Intro

I've been doing a blog for quite awhile on relaxed homeschooling...www.therelaxedhomeschooler.blogspot.com...

Now I want to start blogging once in awhile about things I'd like to share with you all from my experiences in the field of real estate.

Five years ago, I was just "retiring" from 25 years of homeschooling, and trying to decide what to do with the rest of my life (and how to make some money to fund my travel, since my kids were all scattered in various parts of the world)...since I'd always enjoyed the field of real estate as a hobby, it seemed like a natural fit.

It all started because I was watching a late night infomercial about real estate investing, and I kept thinking, "This looks interesting but there is something wrong with this plan..." It was one of those "no down payment" informercials, and sure enough, a couple of years later a lot of those people lost their shirts when the market fell apart.

I told my husband that I wanted to invest someday, and the only way it would happen is if I learned alot about real estate...so I was going to take the class, but not to expect me to actually get my license.  One thing led to another, though, and eventually I became an associate broker with Keller Williams.  A year after getting my broker credentials, I wound up as a certified residential appraiser, too.  I have yet to do any investing, but I've sure learned a lot along the way!  As soon as I have enough money to get going, I still intend to do some of that, too!

Anyway, if nothing else I wound up taking about 300 continuing education credits in real estate over the past five years! (24 are required...I tend to be a bit of an overachiever sometimes!)...That, plus all the experience I've gained, especially in appraising, over the past five years, has brought out the educator in me, and now I want to share with my "public"...that's you :)  So feel free to check in from time to time...and if you have any questions, ask them in the "comments" section.
